This mini course addresses some recent developments on the mathematical modeling and the numerical computation of direct and inverse problems in diffractive optics, which is referred to as optical devices with periodic structures. Scattering theory in periodic structures has many applications in micro-optics including the design and fabrication of optical elements such as corrective lenses, anti-reflective interfaces, beam splitters, and sensors. The course will provide introductory material to the area that offers rich and challenging mathematical problems. It is also intended to convey some up-to-date results to students in applied and computational mathematics, and engineering disciplines as well. Particular emphasis of this course is on the formulation of the mathematical models and analysis of computational approaches. Topics are organized to present model problems, physical principles, mathematical and computational approaches, and engineering applications corresponding to each of these problems.

主讲人概况:

李培军博士现为美国普渡大学数学系副教授,2005年毕业于美国密歇根州立大学获得博士学位,2012年获得美国国家自然科学基金NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program,已经发表30余篇科研论文,其中有些发表在应用、计算数学与反问题领域的高水平杂志,诸如SIAM J. Appl. Math、Math. Comp、J. Comput. Phys.、J. Differential Equations、Math. Meth. Appl. Sci.、Numer. Math.、Inverse Problems、Multiscale Model. Simul.与SIAM J. Appl. Math.等。他的研究兴趣为复杂与随机环境下声学与电磁学领域的正、反问题的建模、分析与计算、数值分析与应用偏微分方程。
